12. Challange the Nominations Due Friday Jan. 16th

Step 1- Read all the comments from the previous assignment.

Step 2- Choose one comment which is thoughtful.

Step 3-

First, paraphrase the comment you are responding to: For example: “Mr. Franco thinks that…”

Then challange the nomination.

Write a question about the chosen comment. The question must be: clear, sincere, useful and be the sort of question which leads to more questions. The question you write must complicate the comment’s argument, make the reader of the comment you are questioning think deeper. Stir up some intellectual trouble

The comment I chose is Nicole Ma. Nicole Ma said I would nominate John Adams as a Noble Peace Prize winner. John Adams was honest, hard working, intelligent, saved human lives from going to a war, and he tried his best to win people’s trust. Instead of declaring war with France, he made peace with them. At first John Adams was attempted to improve the relationship between the United States and France. Unfortunately, it didn’t succeed. As soon as the federalists in congress declared war with France, John Adams asked the Congress to expand the navy to a fleet of more than 30 ships to prepare for the war and he decided that the United States should have a Peace Time army. When he realized the cost of having a war, he reopened peace talks with France. The Federalists was stunned by this idea and he sent the representatives to France to negotiate. Both countries ended up signing a peace treaty and were stopped from the war. That’s why I nominate John Adams for the Nobel Peace Prize.
George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Alexander Hamilton each have their own ways of how the country should be governed. For example, Alexander thought that there should be a ruler and people should take smalls parts in the role of government. While Thomas Jefferson thought that the country should be run by people.

My question to Nicole Ma about her comment is “What would you think will happen to John Adams accomplishments if he really have gotten the Nobel Peace Prize, would he done more accomplishments or less? Why or why not? Explain” This is my question to Nicole Ma comment.

The comment I chose to question is Matthew Bergin's, about him nominating George Washington for the Noble Peace Prize. He said that an example of Washington doing a lot for America was that he helped free America from the horrible grasp of the British. However, I disagree with it because it's not the whole truth. As we all know, Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. After the British read it, they declared war on us, and that was the American Revolution. If Thomas Jefferson hadn't written the Declaration of Independence, the British wouldn't have seen it, and they wouldn't have declared the war and George Washington wouldn't have been out there in the war for us for the American Revolution.

My question to Matthew are: "What about Thomas Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration of Independence, leading the American Revolution that we won and gave us freedom?"
"Why isn't any credit going to Thomas Jefferson, who caused it all to happen so that he gets the Noble Peace Prize?"

Those are my two questions to Matthew Bergin about his comment nominating George Washington.

The comment I chose was Michelle N's: she said "The person i would nominate is Thomas Jefferson, I nominate him because back when he was president, he served as a president for 2 terms". Well he did more things then that but the thing is what did he do while he served his 2 terms did he do anything important, that's helping us now or anything that made him really special?( besides created inventions, and having a face on money )

The comment i have chosen is Kiran Kauls. She wrote
"The person who would be the best would be George Washington. I chose George Washington is because he did a lot for our country. He was the one who made America an independent nation. He was also chosen as the first president. He served two terms people wanted him for a third too but he said no. This is why I think George Washington deserves the Nobel peace prize."

My questions for Kiran Kaul is, other than being the first president of America and making it an independent nation, what else did he do as a president for 2 terms?

The comment I chose to ask question is Ciera Corley's comment. Ms Corley stated:

The person i would nominate would be George Washington. George Washington was the first president of the united states and was a great general in the revolutionary war. he also helped us create the constitution by takiing part in the continental congress. Being the first president is a big responsibilty and he took that job and put so much effort in it. He was the president of this country, and he helped make it the most wealthiest country in the world.

Question: How did George Washington make america the most wealthiest country?

The comment I chose is Chingaz. Chingaz nominated Benjamin Franklin for the Noble Peace Prize. He explains that Benjamin Franklin invented bifocal lenses, batteries and e.t.c.

My question for Chingaz is how did Benjamin Franklin help this country politicaly? besides inventing things we now use today.

The comment i chose is Chingiz. He stated I would nominate Benjamin Franklin. I choose him becouse he did a lot of usefull inventions, like a bifocal lenses, electrical ground, etc. But I choose him not only becouse he did inventions. I choose him becouse he was ready to give a life for a science. He show it when he flying the kite and waiting to be struck by lightning. Without B.Franklin and his inventions our life will be imposible. Bifocal lens, electrical ground, refrigeration, batteries - everything invent Benjamin Franklin!

My question is that dont you think someone would have founded power and electriclty?

My question for Chingiz is why do you think that just because Benjamin Franklin deserves a prize? Just because he invented these things dont make him the best president for a prize. Also, dont you think that someone inventing something also makes them automatically president? Do you think he was up for it?

The comment o chose was Tara's. Tara nominated Thomas Jefferson for being the third president, one of our four founding fathers and helped write the declaration of independence. All of those reasons are great but has Thomas Jefferson done better.

My question for Tara is how many great things has he done while being a president, has it changed the u.s then to make it the way it is now?

I choose Raymonds comment he said..

The leader that I'd nominate for the Noble Peace Prize is Thomas Jefferson. If he hadn't written the Declaration of Independence, we wouldn't have the American Revolution that gave us freedom. The American Revolution helped us break free, and without the Declaration of Independence, Great Britain would still be in control of us. Not only did he help give us independence, but he was also the governor of Virginia. Jefferson was also serving in office for two terms to help take care of our nation. Thanks to him, we have have both freedoms and rights. That's why I'd nominate Thomas Jefferson for the Noble Peace Prize.

My question is...
Raymond i also agree on Thomas jefferson but why not someone else?

The comment I chose was Ian’s

Ian said I would nominate George Washington for the Noble Prize because George Washington had lots of knowledge being a General and a President. For example, he was chosen to help run the Revolutionary war and he made great success by freeing us from the British. On July, 4, 1776 we became a country the USA!. Being elected as the first president of the US is also important and full of history so George Washington helped us and now we are free from the British and still known as the best country.

I agree with Ian I also nominate George Washington. Do you think were a independent country because of him or many other people?

I think only Benjamin Franklin would have a Nobel Peace Prize

My question to Chingiz is Even though he invented many things he really didnt do anything for pollitical reasons so why did you pick him?
