13. Ali Baalbaki asked, "Who cares?" Good question. Should we care about the Federalist Era? Due Weds Feb. 12th

How are events from the early 19th century relevant to our lives today? In other words, will studying 1810 prepare us for facing 2010? Using your notes from our Philadelphia Street-Fair, information from the textbook and building on the rough draft you completed in class, answer the question by making specific connections to the topics we've studied to prove your point.

Fron studying 1810, we have learned a lot. We learned about religions and economic plans. We learned about travel dieseases, immgration, and other stuff. We hae also learned how much our techonlogy has been improved.
300 years later, all of this steam power seems like ancient history. Most people would say this stuff is no longer important. But all this stuff is very important. What would our society be like if our ancestors did not try?
Now a days, when we look at our advanced techonlgy, we should always thank the people from the past. Thank you

I think that since many events have occurred in the 19 Th century it will surly help us survive in the 21 Th because it has had a very large impact and toll on our society and the families and people in them.

Somethings that we have reacted to in the wrong way that have demolished our nation is fighting Britain, bringing slaves to America witch transmitted disses and trading with other countries witch also made sicknesses spreed that we where not aware of.

I think that our new studies are going to try to improve this country health and the nation so our future and present will all matter thanks to our past we are going to cure or God willing get rid of sicknesses and prevent them from recurring.

The events from the early 19th century are relevant to our lives today because what the people have invented, learned, and did in the early 19th century will always have an impact on the future. The people in the early 19th century have used their energy to think of something that will help in the future and now we have upgraded what they have invented, learned, and did to greater good. What if they didn’t use their energy to think of something. We wouldn’t have this special stuff we have upgraded to greater good and use every day but we will have stuff from the early 19th century. It will be like time of thinking has stopped and won’t think anymore. So we have to thank the minds of people in the early 19th century for their lovely knowledge. Some people still use the stuff given from the knowledge of brains of the early 19th century.
The War Of 1812 has resulted a Treaty of Ghent. What if we didn’t have this Treaty of Ghent. We will still have a war between the United States of America and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland today. The Free African Society is to release African Americans from slavery. What if we didn’t have this release of African Americans from slavery. We would still have slavery of African Americans. The steam power is used more because of its heat engine that performs mechanical work using steam as its working fluid. What if we didn’t have steam power. We would not have any mechanical work at all from machines. The Lewis and Clark Expedition, headed by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, was the first American overland expedition to the Pacific coast and back. What if Lewis and Clark didn’t do the overland expedition to the Pacific coast and back. We wouldn’t know what was there at all and it wouldn’t be in the map. If we will study 1810 yes, it will prepare us for facing 2010 because the knowledge of the brains in 1810 will make us to do the right thing and do no wrong. In 1810 we would have learned of their mistakes and fix them in 2010.

There were many events occurring during both the 18th and 19th century, during those years many things were going on such as war, new religions, racial issues, having rights to vote and etc. During those years we learned many things about America and what it could do during critical times. The reason why we should care about what happened years ago is because, we can find something that can help us today that we didn't see before. Also it's shows that just because we overcame some hardships in the past it doesn't mean they can't come back.(these events prepare us for things to come)"Change can come but so can destruction".

The events from the 19th and 21st century, alot of events happened and alot is relevent to our lives. The reason why is because it was the starting point of the future and alot of significance came along. More things got invented, more things got more significant, and more signifcant people came into the world. The people are James Madison and George Washington. Also, more inventions and religions grew. For example, the shakers had a religion, the U.S economy was helped, Washington was the first president and James Madison was running for president. Alot happened in the 19th and 21st century.

I think studying 1810 will not help us in preparing for the future of 2010. I feel this way because 1810 was in the past and most of our technology that we have today we did get from long ago but I think we already have enough of past inventions which were investigated. What we should do is get childeren who have many ideas about new inventions that can help our economy, environment, etc. We sould not be copiers but leaders, isn't that what the U.S.A is known for,for being leaders? I also think after we get all of these ideas together we modify them to a more mature and resonable level. Just think a 10 year old boy/girl inventing the next big sensation. But I must say if we did start studying deeper and deeper into the 1810's we would find some resourceful information that could trigger new ideas for 2010. For example look at the shakers there are still 4-7 shakers still alive so we could always find out more information threw them if they are willing to share. Also Tecumseh helped his shawmee people make peace with the Americans. We can ind ways that he thought of to make peace so we could do the same with our "enemies". All of that information might help but I still think that it would be waste of time looking into the year 1810 to try and face the upcoming year 2010

1810 was the starting point where important people were born. The horrible disease that killed many people is called Yellow Fever. The erie canal back then was the easiest way for transportation for googds. The Haition Delacation and the Free African Society gave courage to african americans. Now days there are more advanced methods but those methods wouldn't exist if it wasn't for 1810.

Events from the early 19th century are relevant to us because in some ways these events are the foundation of our society today. Some of these important events are the Erie canal, Hamilton’s debt, industrial revolution, steam power, and many more.

Right now our economy is going downhill fast. In 2010 we probably have the worst economy. Events in the early 19th can help us now. An event that might be significant to us now could be Hamilton’s debt, the us has been in debt before. Thanks to Hamilton we were able to pay off our debt.

Also another significant event is the free African society. The free African society was formed April 12, 1787 founded by Richard Allen. Allen was born as a slave he believed that in lifting themselves it would lift all black people. The free African society still stands today, the society was set up like a church. The free African society gave African Americans self respect. Now there is an African American president. That is why I think events from the early 19th century are relevant to us now.

Events from the early 19th century are relevant to our lives today because things that were invented back then were the starting point to the future. This helped our lives today suchas, jobs and in our everyday life. In the 18-1900's the American Revolution took place. Many factories opened and many machines were invented like Eli Whitney's cotton gin. This helped southern cotton farmers produce more cotton and gain faster profits. The American Revolution helped the United States build its economy and helped employ people with factory related jobs.
Studying 1810, would help us in the 21st century. How ever the inventions that were made back then are already used today and more safisticated.

From studying every thing we did espesialy on hamiltins economic plan I realized that the 19 century is alot like the 21 century in that time they were in sierios debt. today we are in so much debt they are going too give people stimules cheks to try to relieve the econamy sowe can spend there for bissnesses can prosper there for the econamy prospers.

The events from 1810 helped us solve many major problems and meet new countries who show courage. In 1810 we got to know about Yellow Fever,a disease there was no cure for and killed thousands of people. In the future we will know more about the Yellow Fever and find a cure for it. Hamilton's plan that we learned from 1810 showed us how he paid 78 million dollar Usa dept off. We can put this plan into action today and pay our dept to China and fix the economy. Haiti a "courage country" showed us how to fight for rights. If Usa ever gets invaded by another country, we can look back to Haiti and fight for our rights. In 2010 If we need a boost in the economy, we can always look back to the Industrial Reveloution. Industrial Rreveltoin eventually lead Usa to number 1. wealth. George Washington represents the symbol of "courage", he is also a row model for upcoming presidents. If President Obama. feels Usa will lose to a war then he can look back to our father( George Washington) and keep trying. Lewis and clark, two brave explorers who explored the western territories such as Lousiana. If it wasnt for Lewis and Clark we pretty much would have like 40 states. Lewis and Clark also taught us about Lousiana. The Teasnsuh persuaded us to live in peace and not fight. We can look back to the Teasnsuh and stop wars and sign peace treaties.

From studying the year 1810, i think that we should care and we shouldn't care. We should care because some things such as the Hamiltons Econmic Plan and The African American Society. Without the Hamiltons Econmic Plan, we wouldnt be able to pay off our debts. The African American Society let African Americans feel equal and let them have respect.
I also think we shouldnt care that much because the technology back then isnt as updated as today! For example, the Steam Power Ships. Today we use cruise ships, boats that run on fuel. We dont use steam to make the ships move.

Tara Mango said...

Well I agree 100% with Ali by saying "who cares". I don’t understand how we could work on things that have happened in the past and make them better for 2010. Their is nothing we can do to help the future that’s the future and the past is the past their are many things people regret but something that happened in 1810 honestly can not help us now because their are many things we still do not know that happened and we need more evidence to find them. We need to work on making things better for now and deal with 2009 before dealing with 2010.

The events that occurred in the 1800's are relevant to our lives to day and the year 2010. If we are to go through the same situation again, are answers might come from the past. For example, we are currently in an economic crisis, and Hamilton's economic plan can be used to help pay off the huge debt. The U.S. was in over $70 million of debt, and he managed to pay it all off.
We've used steam power before in the past, and if we use it again today, lots of money can be saved on energy, which can help us pay off our debt. Using different resources to produce energy will help us even more with saving money. There are also many other things that can help or be used, too such as the Free African Society and George Washington's leadership. Those are the ways that the events that occurred during the 1800's can benefit us now and in the year 2010.

I agree with the statement that ali baalbaki made. He said that it really doesn’t matter studying the19th century. I agree what happened in the past was the past and it really doesn’t make that much of an big impact in our lives today. Many things that had happened in the 19th century couldn’t of have effected us that much now.

Though many things probably wouldn’t affect us some may of would. For example say if we actually went to war with Brittan. Who knows if they could have won. If the British won then we would probably be under there control.

From studying 1810,i think it help us in the 21th century because we learned a lot of new events and things.Such as religions and different economic plans.we should care because if it wasn't for the stuff that happened in the 19th century we wouldn't majority amount of stuff we have now.Now people look in the past and they see how muched it helped our lives today and celebrate every history that was made.=]

There are so many relevant events that happened around 1810 threw present day I cant get to them all. The Lewis and Clark Expedition don’t really affect us significantly today but to citizens in the 1800 and 1900 it was important. It has never been done before so everyone wanted the latest information on the Expedition. Over forty two members came but some died trying. It attracted tourists all over the world. The Haitian Delegation and the Free African Society was extremely important and it still affects us today. It gave slaves self respect. It let slaves sand up for themselves which later the slaves rebelled. his worked for a little while, around a couple of years. Racism came back and white alliances were formed such as the Ku Klux Klan also known was KKK.

Another pair of events is Steam Power and the Industrial Revolution. What’s ironic is that when you hear revolution you automatically think of war or guns. This was in fact one of the most useful eras to inventors. Without the inventions it would have been hard to survive. Steam power also had many useful inventions to different people. If you were a sailor a tourist or an engineer, steam boats and steam trains would have been important to you. If you were a cook you might have purchased a pressure cooker. You’re probably thinking who cares. Without steam power you might not have been driving in cars. Inventors modified the concept of steam power t make it run on gas or other substances such as coal.

The events of 1810 can most likely prepare us for the future. Before the 1800's life wasn't exactly easy. With out the new inventions and new leaders of the country the present would not be the same.

For example, The Industrial Revolution. With out half the inventions of the 19th century it would be hard to find a job, transportation would be a mess, work in the fields would be harder and communication would take a long time to get something through. Another example is the yellow fever. New diseases always throw a nation off track. If we look back, almost 20,000 people died. We need to be prepared for things like these and i think that looking in the past could definitely prepare us.
So i do believe that 1810 could prepare us for 2010

Events from the early 19th century is relevant to our lives which in other words will help us study and prepare us for 2010 by the history of the 19th century when we read about it such as in our textbooks we learn something that had existed which is the history of what happented throughout the time periods of the world.

Such as when the Doves and Americans did nto want war with Britain they just wanted to renew friendly business ties with Britain instead of fighting and the War Hawks gave emotional speeches urging Americans to stand up to Britain. These events that happened in the 19th century which was the war of 1812 help us study and know about our history and past which prepare us for the future.

The events from the early 19th century are relevant to our lives today because there are some inventions that were created and still being used today. Example, a light bulb; it was created it by Thomas Edison on December 31, 1879. The light bulb was made during the 19th century and still being used today.

There are other inventions made that we still use today. Like batteries, cash register, dish washers and etc. All those were created during the 19th century and sill being used today. Some inventions were created and modified. Like a type writer and a printing press.

Studying the 1810’s could prepare us facing 2010. Studying about Hamilton's Economic Plan can help us today. Also things that were created in the 19th century still help us today. Like slavery had ended, there is a cure for yellow fever, the Erie Canal that still help us export and import goods, and transportation.

From studying problems and ideas of 1810 I learn that sometimes something that look silly can be really important and... dangerous. First time people think that Yellow fewer is something routine and isn`t dangerous, but after short period they understand that it is not a joke.
Do you remember steam engines? But they was invented more than 300 years ago! And all those times they was usefull! I think 1810 show to us that we need to be ready for everything, and not to be sceptic to new inventions.
